English Springer Spaniel

This tutorial covers commom problems we have with most breeds that can be clipped or stripped. Michelle explains clipping vs stripping, and the differences for the customer. Thank you to the beautiful Thani ESS for starring in this tutorial.

Head and Ears

As we go through the head and ears, Michelle explains how to achieve a smooth clipper finish and where the body lines are if we were stripping the ESS.

The body

Before clipping a Gundog, always use a stripping tool first. Michelle explains why and how this is done.

Michelle uses a #5F for the neck and body for a natural finish.

How to blend the short into the longer feathering again for a natural finish all over.

The Feet

The importance of working with your dog. Sometimes due to age or health, dogs will be more comfortable sitting for parts of the groom. Canine comfort is #1!

Blending from foot, hock then up the legs, blending to your clipper work.

Feet and Legs, Finishing

Finally, working on the underline.

It is important to scissor the lines and angles that match in with the rest of the feathering.
